Past and Present Projects
Plumbing Works is an established plumbing, roofing and drainage company with a proud history
From small beginnings to a growing business, the team at Plumbing Works have remained true to their word – to always provide top quality services for residential and commercial projects. It’s pretty impressive what our team have achieved over the years and we look forward to many more to come. Take a moment and see what we can do.
SUPERMARKET PLUMBING SERVICES
We have recently completed another New World supermarket for Savory Construction in Hillcrest Hamilton. This recent New World project adds to those completed in Tauranga including Brookfield, Gate Pa and Mt Maunganui. Previous supermarkets include Whangamata, Waihi and Whitianga which have been complete new developments from the ground up. Plumbing Works completed all the plumbing services, waste and mechanical services (for refrigeration contractors).
Our proven method gets the job done when you need it. We’ve won a loyal following of the biggest supermarket chains in New Zealand.
IQP Testing and Backflow Valves
It is a requirement under the building code for these buildings to have an annual warrant of fitness. This involves from a plumbing point of view, issuing an IQP Test and report for any testable backflow valves within the building. Plumbing Works installs backflow protection valves and we have our own qualified IQP technicians in house who can carry out the IQP Tests, commission and test any of these backflow valves. This service can be offered to any supermarket or commercial building.
We don’t like to walk away from any project until it ticks all the boxes. It’s important to be fully operational and fully compliant at the same time and we can guarantee both.
Hospital Plumbing Services
We were contracted to supply all sanitary fittings and associated plumbing for the New North Wing and Podium contract being the first stage of the project. The contract started in June 2006 and was completed recently. The plumbing contract value was in excess of $1.8 million plus approximately $500,000 for the hospital roofing contract.
Our team on site, led by Jason Flintoff, performed well in meeting all contractual obligations and maintained close liaison with the main contractor, Fletcher Construction BOP, in order to meet all programs. We installed in excess of 500 sanitary fittings and tapware, 6500 metres of copper piping and 3800 metres of PVC piping on the Hospital Contract.
Challenges included working after hours and preparing sufficient materials to ensure jobs were completed by the following morning to prevent any disruption to hospital services. We then secured the second stage being the West Wing and this work should be completed by the end of 2008. The challenge was to route all the plumbing services without interrupting the 4th floor where the ICU is located in order for the lower floors to be renovated.
Without a doubt, we ensure our team are fully informed and fully equipped that allows for the least disruption when our customers need things to run “business as normal”. It takes careful planning and clear communication but it’s always worth it in the end.
Industrial Plumbing Services
Plumbing Works has been involved in a number of industrial projects. Currently we are working on a large sawmill site locally in the Bay of Plenty. We are also involved in the redevelopment and expansion of a major food processing factory based in Tauranga and two large-scale grain storage depots at Mt Maunganui.
It’s safe to say we know what we’re doing. We’re keen as and we love highly technical jobs that require a little prowess. Put our experienced and professional team to the test.
Education Plumbing Services
We have done work on many of the schools around Tauranga, including Tauranga Intermediate, Te Puke Intermediate and all the high schools in the area. Currently we are working on the large Chinese Learning Centre in Waihi which consists of a large number of staff and student dormitories, administration block, hall, library etc.
Most recently Plumbing Works, in conjunction with Hawkins Construction, completed the Wairaki institute science block complete with solar heating.
There has also been a strong demand for early child learning centres over the recent years and Plumbing Works staff have helped with many of these in the Tauranga area, specific equipment being special junior toilet suites and wash areas. One of the important issues with schools and child learning centres is controlling the temperature of water at the taps.
